Tanya Printed at Ambassador’s Residence, Jerusalem
Historic: On the day of the Alter Rebbe’s yartzeit, US Ambassador David Friedman hosted Lubavitcher friends to print a Tanya at his residence in Jerusalem.
The yartzeit of the Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, founder of Chabad-Lubavitch, was marked at the former U.S. consulate in Jerusalem – currently the residence of the ambassador in Jerusalem, on Tuesday.
Ambassador David Friedman hosted a special printing of the Tanya, the foundational text of Chabad chassidus authored by the Alter Rebbe.
The printing in each location – already done around the globe, even in obscure villages – is seen as a blessing for the area and another method of spreading the wellsprings of Chassidus.
Leading the printing were Friedman’s friends Rabbi Zalman Wolowik, Director of Chabad of the Five Towns in New York, Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Director of Merkos Suite 302 in New York, and donor R’ Shmuel Aizenberg.
After the printing, the group studied together Chapter 32 of Tanya teaching about fulfilling the mitzvah of loving another Jew as yourself.
The Tanya printing coordinated by Shloimy Peles and Mendy Peles, and was sponsored by Shmuel and Yiska Aizenberg, Sholom and Pessy Jacobs and Gidon and Alla Shema.
